Pre-trip Tool
eSIM Compatibility Checker
Check whether your phone is likely to work with a travel eSIM before you buy, including device support, carrier unlock status, and destination notes.
What this eSIM checker looks for
A travel eSIM usually needs three things: an eSIM-capable phone, an unlocked device, and provider coverage in the destination. Newer iPhones, many recent Samsung Galaxy models, and Google Pixel phones commonly support eSIM, but exact support can vary by model number and country of purchase.
If your phone is locked to a carrier, a travel eSIM may install but fail to activate, or the phone may reject the profile entirely. Check unlock status before buying a plan for a trip.
Fast manual checks
- Open cellular or mobile network settings and look for Add eSIM.
- Check device info for IMEI2, Digital SIM, or EID.
- Ask your carrier whether the phone is unlocked for other networks.
- Verify that your chosen eSIM provider covers the destination and supports hotspot if needed.
